Internship/Volunteering

Types of Internship/Volunteering
Keeping in mind the different goals each intern hopes to achieve through an internship, and the unique expertise and experience each of them brings, CSF offers a variety of internship programmes:
General Internship
Internships can vary from 3-12 months. All interns are involved in research, administrative support, Programme development, Project writing, occasional to frequent field visits, preparation of communication materials (such as: brochures, reports, documentaries, news letters, photography to use in publications etc).
Once placed in a department, the intern chalks out a project that is mutually agreeable between the intern and department supervisor. Interns with university requirements for a semester are to propose their intention early in the application procedure, especially in their mission statement.
Voluntary Work for Professionals
Applicants with professional work experience can take up short or long term assignments at CSF and contribute to the work of the department by demonstrating their skills, experience and insight, where applicable. Applicants should state clearly in their application which area they are interested in and how their participation can add to it. Volunteers will have to bear all related costs, such as, food, accommodation, transportation and interpretation.
Research Fellowship
CSF offers a research fellowship for post-graduate/graduate/doctoral candidates, who are interested in a research project either relating to a CSF programme or an independent subject, within the CSF framework and if it matches with CSF overall research agenda/interests. The expected duration of this kind of fellowship would be at least one year. Fellows are expected to send a two/three pages research proposal well ahead of time for review by respective program director(s). A formal agreement will be signed between CSF and the Fellow(s) upon approval of the proposal.

Application Process:
- All CSF internship applications should be made at least 2 months prior to the internship placement.
- Prepare a mission statement. A mission statement should be at least a one-page account of why you want to intern at CSF, which programme(s) of CSF you are interested in, what you are hoping to achieve, what your expectations are, and what you can offer CSF as an intern.
- Complete the application form properly with correct information and submit it to the Internship Unit on: cbpb@agni.com, along with your mission statement, an updated CV, a digital picture (passport size) and an academic or professional reference. The reference should be written on an official letterhead, signed by the referee and then scanned to be sent to. The reference should come from someone who has taught/supervised the applicant directly. Incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration.
- Once the completed application is received, it will be carefully assessed by the internship coordinator and forwarded to the relevant department to check for acceptance, the availability of a supervisor and to see if your skills, experience and academic background fit into the programme.
- In about 2-3 weeks, depending on the time needed to get a response from the departments, the internship unit will send their reply to you about the outcome of your applications.
- Due to the large volume of applications, only accepted candidates will be contacted.
- Please note that all applications are treated equally and accepted on the basis of merit and academic / professional records. Any persuasion for acceptance may lead to the cancellation of the application.
- Interns have to pay an internship fee of USD 150 (per person). This fee can either be paid through wired transfer or by cash on the orientation day after arrival in Dhaka. Interns, who are Bangladeshi Nationals, have Bangladeshi passports and are resident in the country, are exempt from this fee.
